Looks like Octopus Electroverse roaming card/app is now also compatible with Charge Place Scotland:

It's now almost the one (discount) card to rule them all. Not a lot of small (incompatible) dots left on their map:

I rented an EV (Model 3 or similar from Europcar) at Faro during next week's holiday, I will also be using the Electroverse card in Portugal, works with pretty much all charge points over there. No problem if it turns out to be not a Tesla and I can't use Tesla superchargers near Faro. Thanks to everyone not renting EV's, it was super cheap at £180 for 5 days, even cheaper than "Golf or similar" from budget firms.

I spotted an error this week with Electroverse when checking for new chargers & reported this to them.

They have Angus Council chargers which are used with CPS as 40 pence AC and 65 pence DC, but they are 55 pence a kWh regardless of AC 7,11, 22, 43 or 50 DC chargers.

PS

@wyx087

Bettyhill Carpark Thurso KW14 7SP

is 35 pence a kWh 22 kW AC   & 70 pence a kWh with CPS.

The Electroverse map being wrong is not the first time. Their mapping data seems to be pulled in without checking.

OT.

But having done 65 miles quickly yesterday but using CC and MID and Green Modes and having 30 miles range left i needed 25 kWh @ 47 pence a kWh and topped up to 100%.  ( Once at 55 pence and above it is too much.)

My young lad drove the car back as quick as i did if not a bit quicker in Sport and had 35 miles range & it took 20 kWh to charge to 100%.  22 pence a kWh.

130 miles.  @ £4.40 Home.  £11.75 public.  = £16.15

Taking a 50 mpg diesel car would have been just over £17.

A 50 mph petrol about the same as the electric.

Fiona Hyslop MSP Transport Minister is in a Kia PHEV which was not charging because of it being faulty this morning.

They moved it from charging bay when I pointed this out to journalist and photographers.   Nice but bays too tight at one side of hub.  No price shows in chargers.

They seem to have a problem getting correct data from SWARCO. Compare Electroverse with CPS / SWARCO / Westmoreland chargers and a lot are wrong. Common denominator is SWARCO back end....

The head dude with SSHE at the Myrekirk Road Dundee opening was very nice and helpful as was the technician with him.

I asked why no pricing posted or on the chargers, he said tap your card.  I said no way if you pull up and care about the prices, especially when there is cheaper chargers near.

Post the price clearly.

These were 69 pence a kWh, he said they are on Electroverse.

Well that was a great answer,

so i showed him where they are not on the Elctroverse app, but the Osprey charger @ Starbuck next door is.

This is the kind of thing they want feed back on.

Well there they were hanging about and charging cars & getting media coverage, did nobody think on checking?

Not on ZapMap or PlugShare, but they said they sorted that this morning.  We will see how long before they appear then.

Too many yes men and woman about, but i like to keep them honest.

Tell them as it is not as they were told it is and try to then spin it as.

............

See Foot notes 1 re the 60 miles added in 3 minutes.

Then there is the 8 miles a minute, 150 kW chargers.   Capable vehicles.

While Local Authorities are taking 55 pence a kWh for 50 kW DC chargers it is easy to look at that as 10 kWh is £5.50 and if you get 4 miles to a kWh then 40 miles.   Worst efficiency costs you more, better efficiency then great.  5 kWh per mile Is 50 miles for £5.55.   but then the likes of the Highland council are at 70 pence a kWh for DC 50 kWh charging.    There are still some charging bellow 50 pence a kWh.    It is getting expensive even in Scotland with this tax payer funded charging set up to public charge, even on AC 7,12 or 22 kW chargers.     Then there is the ludicrous minimum £5 charge in South Ayrshire even if using a AC Fast (slow actually ) charger.

Maybe the honeymoon period is closing down and they are trying to recoup some of the lost tax revenue that ICE cars would have generated?

What tax revenue are Scottish Councils losing because of EV,s?  They have fleets of them their selves.   If they were to stop blocking or refusing solar farms and battery farms and actually encouraging those wanting to put them up have them on public land, COMMON GOOD land,  which there is lots of, and redundant Greenfield sites that are not getting housing on anyway and is reclaimed refuse / dumps that have to lay dormant for many years.  Get rental income in from that being used.     The councils need the renewables to cut their emissions and costs.  This is Scotland not England that had had a ban on new onshore wind for near a decade.  This is where there is much more electricity than the country can use and where it can not all be exported because the National Grid is not up to it.

This GB Energy and The Crown Estate agreement stuff is England.  The Crown Estate Scotland and seabed and offshore wind agreements done. The licencing had already happened.    Crown Estate / Royal family money is already the Nations in the main so public.  That is not private or inward investment. It is Smoke and Mirrors.    Like KC3 and the 2 royal cars converted to Bio Fuel and the new Royal EV fleet.   KC3 when the Prince of Wales had his loaner Tesla S via Elons brother.   The brother that is very good for KC3 and their interest in Wine.     Charles even had a car that supposedly ran on fuel made from wine.

Those Kempower rapid chargers are great isn't it. Nice, neat and small, power sharing and works well.

  • Author

These are nice but expensive @ 69 pence a kWh

& i never understand why it is never asked why Fiona Hyslop MSP is not chauffeured about in a EV & not just a faulty 68 plate PHEV.

(unable to charge.)

They just never say that the Charging Speed / Miles added is dependent on you driving a vehicle that can use the charging speed / power of the Ultra Rapid chargers that there are there.

For these Ultra Rapid chargers the tariff is not that high really.

(That nearby Coffee Shop is just a few steps away and with x 2 Rapid Charger @ 79 pence a kWh.)

Had to google Cairnryan ferry - its always been Stranraer to me.....

Edited by Luckypants

Stranraer pretty much a town needing investment. Lots of plans and little happens.   Ok for chargers now, but if you are leaving Cairnryan and heading north you are not wanting to go south to charge or the same arriving from the north to get on a ferry.   Pathetic on the A77, one rapid Turnberry out of service. One at Downhill Farm shop, one at Girvan finally working again and one at Ballantrae. Unreliable.  It is a real problem for many.  Finally common sense prevailed.

Ionity stranraer, instavolt at Bannatynes Ayr, lus BP ultra rapids at BP north of Ayr, lots more than there used to be on the A77

Stranraer is going past the port then coming back if coming from the north as many do, finding that time is tight behind hgvs.  Those that know know time needs to be allowed.  As far as Ayr and the A77 Instavolt and BP at the roundabout has been there with their expensive prices for several years.  After Ayr there was Maybole now bypassed.  After Ayr is where those might well charge if they want to at that stage.  Pita locations when traffic at its busiest times but that is life.  It is the next 40 miles that is pathetic or was.  Those at Maidens, Girvan etc are not going to Ayr.  The charger at Dowhill Farm Cafe can be a God send when the CPS administered are down.     ..... My CPS account is now at £200 and no word of them taking any payment yet.

PS

Ionity Ayr is coming soon near Bannantyne HC,

Sadly ElectroVerse & CPS is not that great for some at some chargers locations.

The cost is not less with ElectroVerse as the Price per kWh can mean a charge costs more than the CPS tariff showing for a charger which might be high for the 1st kWh then drop.

My issue which is not really an issue as in i have still not had CPS take a direct debit payment and reduce my £200 + Account.

They will get paid when they want paid.   A few times i have tapped and paid on the CC and payment taken.  Lots of CPS card use showing on the account and no invoice.

They have the Credit Card number to take payment as they have taken a few payments since the new system came in and also done a refund.

I changed from the DD being on a Current Account to from a Credit Card so that if they mess up taking any over payments as in the past i will have someone on my side.

As in the Credit Card provider.

It is the same for others, not just me.

Those are great, scan the QR code and see charging stats. They also do power share and says on the screen what is the limiting factor. I think they are the best, most educational rapid charger available.

288 kW on Chademo  No car can take advantage of that.
