Skoda Octavia 2005 1.4 petrol

 

Hi..just changed the discs and pads..when putting all back together the top caliper pin makes it in all the way but then does not tighten up fully...just spins ant the end...anyone any ideas

You may be able to purchase and fit an insert but it will take a bit of work to fit it.

 

Otherwise spare part from breakers may be a better option. fit into the 'carrier' IIRC.

 

Someone will correct me if i am wrong on this.

If you've ruined the thread you'll have to sort the thread out or change the caliper. It could be the bolt you're using though. Does it tighten up in the bottom hole?. Perhaps you could use a tool to repair the thread, something like this perhaps?

Personally I'd just go to the scrappers and get one and replace the caliper (or get a new one)

Swap the pins over to see if its the pin or the brake carrier

 

Then obtain new pins or carrier with bolts as required
