Oil Catch Can for TSI engines

Featured Replies

Seems there is a small number of Octavia owners who have bothered to fit catch cans on their  engines, not sure why that it but anyway, what I want to know is there a good kit that that's not so expensive you need to sell a limb or internal organ to fund?.

I'm aware some really cheap kits have no internal baffles which makes them kind of useless, and on the other end of the spectrum are the expensive Saikou Michi catch cans

So anyway , I found this from a thread and can't see why it wouldn't work for a turbo TSI engine except perhaps it might block the airflow too much as its for a diesel engine?

This looks nice and has an afrika plate (i think that's what it is), but no price

I won't bother listing every one on ebay as most are apparently useless with no internal baffles, however this seems OK but has anyone tried/used it?

Does anyone have any advice they can offer on a good one to purchase?

Afaik all Tsi engines and most other VAG engines already have oil separators, some are built into the crankcase, they catch and return oil mist to sump far more effectively than some bolt on heath robinson kit

Maybe thats why its not "a thing", would love it if its true because I'm worried about coke build up and the need to decoke or a treatment of wallnut shell blasting, hence why I'm even looking at this

Change your oil often and regularly and use good quality correct spec oil instead.

Glad you asked the question as I was wondering about this :)

I have a catch can fitted. The amount of gunge it collects is amazing. I am much happier having it trapped rather than recirculating this mess around the engine.

Mine is similar to this one.
