Depends on price, I already have a AUQ from a Octavia VRS that I am either going to rebuild from the ground up and forge it and swap it into the Fabia or store for a future project. Or seen as I’ve Done the head I’m looking at options like adding a gt15 turbo but I need a proper look at space around the engine. Obviously the later is more for a laugh as it won’t be able to stand too much power also the cam and the valves will restrict just how much air I’d be able to squeeze in the chamber.

got plenty to do before then though lol

Sounds good mate I’ve seen a few 1.8t conversion on here but usually bjx don’t think I’ve seen octavia/golf platform 1.8t used yet

Yeah techie has done a couple of 1.8t from Ibiza’ as they are a straight forward for a swap as you can get. Wiring loom and everything it’s pretty straight forward depending on what engine you start with.

I don’t have space to strip an Ibiza so I can’t really do that but I have space to build an engine. I’ve done all the wiring checks and diagrams and as far as that goes everything should be okay with a bit of fiddling. I don’t believe there is actually any difference between the short blocks across the 1.8t’s the difference for the most part is the mountings for the engine and some other bits that have less space in the Ibiza then in an Octavia for example.

If I rebuild it I’ll be swapping in what ever I need from a ibiza/polo. I’d be aiming for 350hp from the rebuild but at the same time I really want to see if I can match the 1.2 tsi for power etc by turbo charging it instead. I’ve done all the calculations for lowering the compression with a decompression plate, found a turbo with the right a/r that is oil cooled and figured out the oil feed and return  lines. Only point I’m really gonna struggle with it making a custom manifold as the last time I touched a welder I was about 17 lol.

So since lock down not much has changed as I’ve had little to no time to myself and kids are apparently extremely demanding.

my birthday came and went and the other half treated me to a new head unit which I was in desperate need off.

so I obviously went a head and bought what I needed to prep for the sub and amp install as well as the rear view camera.

i finished installing the rear speakers which my Fabia didn’t have standard being poverty spec lol

installing the rear view camera was a pain in the ass just because the led on the reverse lens of the camera was way brighter than standard bulbs so I had to remedy that by removing the glued in led and attaching the standard bulb fitting.

then after ending up with a birds nest full of wiring 623FADAC-5F9B-4C42-B42C-1279B8872B61.thumb.jpeg.5adcc37e8c1cea00e059ad131c41e9cb.jpeg

I ran the wiring under the carpet and under all the trims, despite removing a fair bit of trim I didn’t snap a single clip which is an achievement for me lol.

I then gave both cars a wash

then found out that for some reason neither of the number plate lights work even though only one was ever unplugged 🤪 but that’s something for another day.

Very nice project. I want to be a DIY guy but lacking tools and space.
