Subwoofer!

Featured Replies

Hello!

I have 2 questions about fitting a subwoofer in the mk3.

First of, where do i put the wires trough the firewall?

Secondly, which cables should i take signal from to a high/low converter?

Hi,

I am also planning on installing a subwoofer in my car, have done the + wire already but

not sure where to take the signal, does anyone know the colors for the backdoor speakers?

So i did the install this weekend, jacked the signal from the rear door speakers, both sides have the same color. Brown/white and red/white, these are the more thicker cables.

So is this a powered sub? If it is then it must have a high level input as opposed to line. If not then and you run in parallel then the impedance will drop and could stress the head unit. What outputs does the head unit have by the way?

Indeed, the amplifier has highlevel input with auto turn on/off on the RCA, I have wired the signal from the rear speakers to a highlevel rca converter(Passive) and from that to the amplifier, however I will change this to some active system instead as I get some interference when I power off the stereo in the car, from the moment i power it off the JBL amplifier takes about 5min to switch off, during this time the rear door speakers catch up noices like a microphone to the amplifier :)

Thanks for that. Interesting to know. Cheers 😊
