My 2010 Octavia VRS petrol has developed an extremely irritating ticking sound. It seems to be most noticeable when on over run coasting in second and third gear and sounds like a rattle snake noise (best analogy I could come up with sorry lol!) toward the front of the car. If I press either the accelerator pedal or depress the clutch it stops. Any ideas? 

Something loose, resonating? Check underneath for exhaust mounting etc. Or try to record sound safely maybe with second person window undone may help pinpoint..

Yeah I did wonder about something being loose. Going to get underneath this weekend hopefully to get a better look and yes I will have a go at recording something

Did you finnd out what was causing it? Mine seems to be having the same issue.
