Hi all, 

 

Yesterday I bought a 2014 Octavia VRS 184. I'd love to show some pictures off but as I'm a new member I don't think I can! Upon buying the car it had been stood for a while with multiple error codes on carista (sp?) but were cleared.

 

Its first trial was a drive down to Cambridge. Didn't miss a beat... apart from on the way back I noticed the start/stop function was ruled out. Upon checking this - it said my heated windscreen was turned on?! Which... it wasn't on the button, but after getting out of my car it was roasting!

 

Any advice on this? I've switched it 'on and off' multiple times to no avail!

Check in the air con setting that auto windscreen heating hasn’t been ticked. The little light doesn’t come on to show it if it’s on Auto.

As a curveball, check your outside temperature is working correctly and not showing something like 2 degrees C, I think it comes on automatically below a certain temp when driving!

Dont think UK cars have an AC control menu.. and the outside temp is fine! Bizarre. 

Take it back and get it fixed?

There should be a button that has menu on it in the middle of the HVAC controls. Press that and it comes up on the screen.

As above, press the Menu button. It’s deffo there on all of them. In there in the settings is the auto windscreen heat button. Just untick the box and it won’t come on by itself.

That obvious button that says 'setup' on it. Obvious button was too obvious. Must have been faffing around with it on the A1 then forgot about it..

Sorry the older ones say setup, my newer climate panel says menu. It’s the same thing though, glad you've found it
