VCDS Tweaks working on 68 plate Mk3 FL

Featured Replies

So I will add to this thread as I add working tweaks to my car. I know there is another thread but it’s a bit hit and miss depending on year of car.

This is is my list so far as of a short session tonight.

-Chirp on lock and unlock

-acoustic on/off option in mmi

-Needle Sweep

-Attempted rear running lights (in progress)

Hi out of interest did you not need to use odis  which logs everything with the skoda server....i posted a thread yesterday about my cruise control system not activated after retro fit.......can you do stuff with the gearbox with vcds or will  it need odis and activation codes.....seems vw have made the encryption on programming even more difficult.

Most depends on what you are doing. I’m not fully up on the latest cruise coding but most installs you can get it working without Odis but to register your car on the server as having cruise a legit modification is slightly more difficult.

Where do i start....i am the owner of an mot garage but dont have odis so
had someone try and code in the stalk but no joy...made a real balls up of it as i now have a gearbox fault showing on the dash yet the gearbox works fine, but as i collected the car out of hours this is something i will be taking up with them tomorrow..... so i signed up to BRISKODA,  so the upshot is on the forum you can buy the stalk as a kit and comes with relevant parts required to make it work.  There is an additional wire from pin 5 at the module to pin 21 in the blue connector in the nearside kick panel. But you cant buy this wire separately. In the kit you get the wire and also the fitting instructions to fit. Once fitted then you have to buy the activation code from skoda so it can be coded via odis which connects to skoda main server. Skoda have quoted 59.99 plus vat for the code and half an hour at 55.00 plus vat to program the stick. I just need to run the wire in before taking to skoda,  as its put a real bad taste in my mouth. They were a reputable autoelectrian who my garage have used for years and always fixed whatever has been sent to them but on this occasion i have been sorely let down by them but i suppose at least its not a customer's car cos then im left with the headache and cost of getting it sorted.

Sounds like the person that has tried to code it doesn’t have a clue. TBH I don’t have any experience with Odis. Don’t know where your located but Alex at vag car coding is the wiz at this stuff and very reasonable I would let him sort it. I think he can activate them as well.

Evening all.....well spoke to said company and they confirm that it was definitely programmed and registered with skoda.....so i had a spar half an hour beforw home time so decided to do a little more digging. I will post a picture of the control module wiring plug which i had to dismantle but liw and behold......pin 5 has a missing wire.  Result. So they said that once this wire is installed everything should work and all fault codes should clear.
