Octavia 1.8 TSI problems

Featured Replies

Hey i am Kati i am new here so sorry if i overstep my newbie mark ;) I drive a 2010 Octavia 1.8 TSi she is called Avril :) Recently she has been causing me problems ! She Judders  and shakes  under load and engine management light flashes on from time to time ! She is up to date with service has had recently new plugs and coils, She uses quite a bit of oil but that is common with this engine Had her tested on diagnostics and fault code shows 1 or more injectors being shut off by ecu Any suggestions guys ?

The Oil problem is normal but can eased by using a slightly thicker oil, a 5/40 oil rather then a 5/30, as for the injectors thats harder, first i would find some one with proper VW diagnostics equipment (known as VAGcom or VCDS) as this will be able to pin point the exact injector or injectors at fault, be aware injectors for this engine can be pretty expensive.

There is a list somewhere on here of who is close in your area and has VCDS who may be able to run a diag for you, for a few beer tokens.

P.S i know it's a skoda but it uses volkswagen running gear (engine, gearbox, suspension and brakes) as volkswagen own skoda

What is the mileage of your Avril and how much oil it uses on 623miles, do you know? It could be just the carbon on the inlet valves, or it can be also begining of the end of its exhaust valves ...

Just search over this Skoda forum for 1.8 TSI oil issue / consumption and you find out more details, same engine used at Superb II and Yeti. If you do not have it long, return it to seller asap and look for new Avril
