Coil-over!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Looking to get a coil-over kit for my VRs but there are some varied opinions to what kits fit. Was hoping to fit Eibach Pro-Street S but they dont list it for the VRs, only for the std Octavia.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Dave.

I believe that Eibach do now do a kit, Jabba are probably the best people to speak to about them.

Thanks, I'll give Jabba a shout. I've spoke to the guys at Eibach and they don't really know, they can only go by the fitment guide.

As an alternative to coilovers what is the general consus of opinion on using the standard vRS springs but with uprated dampers?

My current plan for my Octy is to use Koni FSD dampers (rebound damping rate varies with input frequency - i.e. for low frequencies e.g. turn in, the damping rate increases to improve the handling whilst at higher frequencies e.g. uneven roads, the damping rate reduces to improve the ride quality) whilst keeping the standard vRS springs.

My Octy is used as a daily drive so I'd like to keep a good level of ride comfort but also improve the handling without lowering the car (damn councils and their stupid speed humps   ). The Koni FSD dampers negate (or at least reduce) the usual ride vs handling compromise  Since they are a type of semi-active suspension they also appeal to me as an engineer  (or should that be the :o smily for admitting to be an engineer ;) )

The Eibach Pro-Kit still offers the best handling with original dampers but I want to lower it a little bit more. The speed humps and pot-holes are a valid point thats why I would rather stay with Eibach because they always offer comfort aswell as sporty handling.

Are there any other options for coil-overs that still offer a bit of comfort?

Ive just had Jabba fit Koni Sports dampers and Eibach pro springs all round - OMG  the expression 'like night and day' was made for this suspension mod. Brilliantly comfortable and compliant set at about half way but so much better in performance terms - no more swaying back and forth under braking and acceleration (a trait of the 4x4).

Id highly recommend this setup to anyone wanting an upgrade without compromising the daily driveability.

Ive got Eibach coil overs fitted by Jabba, dropped quite low, handling fantastic, my boss who has a 7 said that he thinks on a track that he would have trouble beating me as he says it sits fantastic and has very little roll and no nose dive that u would notice. Personally I drive into corners about 15mph faster now and keep the power on!, it has transformed the car.

Downside, ride quality for day to day use is pants, every bump and ripple u feel.

Would I change it for anything else NO No NO
