Making a switched feed from ciggie lighter .

Featured Replies

Mods- I've put this in here as it's applicable to any car without a easy accessible switched supply .

Thanks to TMB for the suggestion. I've upgraded my dash cam and got one with a bump sensor, which means leaving camera on  with vehicle parked, but shutting down the screen as there's a group on the lookout for lit screens. Fabia, possibly like a lot of other models has only a few circuits fed from an ignition controlled source. Cure is a piggy back fuse holder. Holder has two fuse positions , one for the circuit fuse and another for the secondary circuit. I've chosen to use the rear wiper fuse @10 A with the smallest car fuse I can find ,driving a relay to control the ciggie outlet. Worst case scenario is that rear wiper fuse blows. My thanks to TMB fo the photo. Cost- less than £2 for the piggieback., and similar for a changeover relay ( C/O as I want to drive a only on when ignition is off radio circuit for remote locking)

plenty of wiring accessories to wire in a dash cam from the fusebox, but this is possibly cheapest)
