Amundsen Navigation Maps a Warning

Just taken delivery of a new Fabia SEL 1.0 TSI DSG

 

Previous car was same model but over 2 years old

 

Must say I am very pleased with the car and in my opinion is much nicer than my old car

 

As many will be aware the SE L now has an Amundsen fitted as standard

.

I did ask the garage to ensure the maps were up to date and while I was there a new package was opened and the SD card was put in the Amundsen.

 

However, when I got home, I had a look at the maps and found that many addresses and new roads were not there. Further checking revelled that the version number of the maps was out of date.

 

I used the Skoda update portal to check version numbers.

 

I must say when I informed the dealer of this, they immediately sourced a new SD card. They did this by rewriting a blank SC card. So I can not fault them in any way as I saw the new package opened.

 

I can only conclude that Skoda had not reminded dealers of the update and had not sent out new original SD cards

 

So if you have taken a delivery of an SE L or about to Get the dealer to check the map version number it should be ECE1 2019/20

I am sure this applies to other Skoda’s fitted with Amundsen’s

Some of us in the Karoq forum have been updating our Amundsen to the 2019/20 maps and have found on some roads we get two speed limits shown, on previous map it just showed one. Occurs if limit is 60 and you get a 50 and a 60 showing. Wondered if  this occurs on your unit. If as you say they just rewrote a blank nav card then the maps they put on it should be the same as we have downloaded from the skoda portal.

I have only used the map a few times since I put the new SD card in

 

I have not noticed that 2 speed limits showing

 

I am doing a longer run over the week end and will do an update

 

I have done a screen shot of the Version Screen on the unit

I did the long run over the week end and did find that both speed limits were showing.

 

I do still have the old original card and if I get the opportunity I will put that in again and se what happens.
