Skoda superb 2010 1.8 tsi

Featured Replies

Hey,

I am new here, but i have read a lot of posts. Need some help from someone who can guide me in right direction. My superb has stalling issues. Everytime i release the clutch aftr a gera shift and accelerate the entire car vibrates for a few seconds between set rpm range and then runs normally. I have gone to multiple service outlets and they all say i am having this issue because the oil is leaking from egine into the all four coils and spakr plugs. They have shown me bad spark plugs and cracked coils and told me the only solution is to open entire engine part by part nd fix the rings of piston. I asked if replacing the coil n spark plug will resolve the issue but they said it will only fix the issue for a few hundred miles and gave me an estimate of half the price of my preowned car i bought. Its run 60k and i am not able to understand if i shud spend all that money or just get coil n sparks replaced. Has anyone faced this issue earlier?

Just search this forum for "1.8 piston ring" and you will get a lot of results. Unfortunately, there are many instances of failures involving the piston rings with your engine.

Have you experienced heavy oil consumption (it seems to be the primary indicator of the rings failing)?

I have only driven a few miles so i could not gauge if its consuming oil a lot or not but it kept giving low oil pressure warning before going into completely shuddering/vibrating situation.

Welcome to the site Vic8994.

Check immediately the oil level on a flat area, would be a starter as you have low oil pressure.

Seems to be fine... However there is this burning smell that comes when i drive it or run it for few minutes.

If you have already read a lot of posts, than you should know all about the problems of the 1.8 TSI. Now several different experts tell you the same thing, which is exactly what has been written in many posts in this forum (and many other fora). What is the point in asking the same question again?

Have you just bought the car recentley from a trader? If so take it back!
