Dipped headlights

Featured Replies

Both my low beams stopped worked simultaneously, is that coincidence or a relay ? Anyone had similar before I go rummaging

The Tour De France model came as standard with halogens, not the bi-xenon's?

As in exactly at the same time? You got the blown bulb warning on the dash, and the written message on the display alternating between both front and right dipped headlight bulbs?

It does stand to reason that bulbs will fail close together, after all they're exposed to the same conditions and are used for the same time, but exactly at the same time sounds a little unusual.

Perhaps the slight spike in the system as the first bulb failed was enough to push the other one over the edge!?

Either way you're going to have to have a rummage. The headlight bulbs are fused so popping off the end panel on the dash and checking the fuse would be a good start.

Once removed it is possible to visually identify if the filament has failed on the bulb, but they are a little fiddly to remove. Be careful where you place the rubber caps that cover the back of the headlight, I put mine on the scuttle tray by the wipers. A big gust of wind caught one and almost sent it down into the depths of the engine bay!
