Hello forum members. Just wanted to drop in and say Hi! Going to test drive a Karoq later this week. Hopefully it lives up to expectations.

Hello skingun welcome to Briskoda, take a long test drive  to make sure you like the way it works .

Will do! Excited to take this for a spin. Unfortunately my local dealer doesn't have the 1.5 petrol manual on their forecourt so we are taking the automatic 1.5 petrol out. Should give me a good enough feel for the car.

A warm welcome to the Forum !  If you want a manual, try and persuade the dealer to get one in.  I find manuals, which I prefer - coming from long years, feel quite different to autos.

Welcome.

I replied in your other thread on servicing.

Best read the threads in the Karoq section on the 1.5 TSI manual and DSG issues.

You would hope that all 'New imported to the UK' vehicles would have the latest Software running and not still be getting 'updates' at dealerships once off a transporter. If they require an Update that is, like ones that Skoda / VW Group allowed to leave the factories or storage with issues still.

Thank you. I've replied to that message. Very useful information.

Will read the recommended threads as suggested.

I am running a 2017 1.5 TSI manual and so far have had no problems.  The thing to watch for is the hill start / anti stall when you pull away.  It tries to help and can result in a kangaroo take off.  I have learnt to either let it do its thing or put a bit more power on and get a smooth take off.  If you start easing off early in the take off, it will try and compensate especially on a hill and the jerking results.  Rather hard to explain but I think you can either live with it or get a software guru to sort it out.

Thank you. IIRC hill start is an option for the car. One we won't be choosing.

The test drive was great. We are convinced. Pit down a deposit on an SE model today but after thinking it over we are going to call the dealer tomorrow and upgrade to a SE L.
