Amundsen Screen Problem

Featured Replies

We've got a '18 Karoq 1.5 SEL and today the screen stopped working.

It appears the screen is still 'on' as you can see the backlight and the touchscreen is still responsive and radio/media still plays. This has happened once before and the screen came back on after a few journeys.

It's happened once before. Does anyone have any tips or should I take it to the dealer?

Never experienced anything like that on our SEL Karoq (67 plate 16 months old) after 15,700 miles.:whew:

Try holding the on/off button down to force it to reboot

This has happened just once once (about 6 months ago) on my 18 plate SEL just as you describe. Im racking my memory but I think I switched off and locked up at journeys end. The screen was still "on". After a few hours started the car up again, all was normal again. Does yours  stay on between the car being used?

I'm not sure, I'll have to check when it's dark.

Been out to look at, it didn't appear the screen was still active before unlocking the car. Once I got in and turned the ignition on it appeared to be as normal

Have you tried the hard reset as suggested above?

Not yet, should I just wait till next time it happens?

I think you can do a reset at anytime. I'd be tempted to give it a try now, what's the worst that can happen.

Given the amount of functionality that is controlled through the infotainment system I'd be tempted to get a picture of it next time the screen goes blank and insist the dealer changes the whole unit for a new one.

Okay, I'll try this and film it next time. Thanks

So it happened again. Filmed it and I'm going to ring Bickerton tomorrow

Great, you have indisputable evidence now, so less chance of "their word against yours".

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Will do

Took the car in today, they said they had to ring Skoda UK for advice and they told them what to do. It 'should' fix it, if not take it back. We'll see...

Fingers crossed it works. Make sure to ask them what the 'fix' entails, would be interesting to know what it is.

They said it was some kind of 'hard reset'

Update: It's just done it again, going to ring Rainworth (previously Bickerton) tomorrow...
