Pinchweld Underseal Stripped

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Unfortunately I had to use the emergency scissor jack the other night. Even more unfortunate was that I found the jack supplied with the car didn't fit, but had to bite the bullet and gingerly jack it up anyway.

End result was that I've stripped the pinchweld of it's sealant (photo attached). It seems like the pinchweld itself is a type of plastic, coated with a foam-like material (think 3M VHB tape consistency) with paint on top. Regardless, under the flap you can see a bit of silvery metal where it meets the body, so I need to get this re-sealed sharpish.

Can anyone recommend a product to get this re-sealed, either rebuilding the foam or just getting it sealed with something?

It's currently got some ductape over it, to at least keep the worst out of the damaged area.

Cheers in advance

There are plenty of underbody sealants, they used to be based on waxoyl, but I assume they have advanced these days.
