poor footwell heating

Featured Replies

Superb III 2.0D 190 DSG  L&K.  Throughout the winter, found that my feet were cold.  Drivers side and passenger side both affected.  Directed the vents on to footwell and turned temperature controls up.  The effect was that cabin became uncomfortably hot but feet remained not warm enough.  Am a high mileage driver in other cars, especially Volvos / Fords but this is the only car where I have experienced this problem.  My first Skoda.  Very nice car in most respects but not being fully comfortable spoils the experience.  Referred to main dealer under warranty and they came back saying nothing wrong.  Anyone else experienced this / have any suggestions?  Is it just something I have to expect with this car?

I would say the same about my Mk2 Octavia.

The foot vent air is vented through a duct with several holes in it so the air travels past your legs and into the cabin, in my experience.

I think it misses your feet altogether.

I have a dsg, so ideally for me the drivers side vent would be split into two with one pointed at the left footrest and the other at the accelerator peddle. This would warm my feet much better. I do not think the output is ever that warm that this would be an issue.

I have looked at this on a few occasions but never gotten around to making some sort of better ducting. I do a lot of fettling, with things like this.

I notice it more when cooling with the aircon system, put it on full and the fan is wheezing away but not much happening, cannot feel anything from the low level vents, open the ones on the scuttle and a huge volume of freezing air comes out.

The only way to get it to come out below is to press the button to force the air from the lower vents which takes it out of auto mode.

I find that the hot air does come out of the lowere vents far more than cold air from the aircon, if the balance is not enough then again switch it manually.

Had my head in the footwell most of this morning threading a cable and could clearly see the individual outlets, all about 25mm diameter or less, they are pointing closer to the knee than the shin and definitely not at the feet although I think there may be another vent further back.
