I am trying to replace all the door check straps on my 2008 Octavia Elegance. I have removed the door trim panel ok but am now faced with what appears to be a metal panel to which the electric window motor is fastened and which looks like it may be riveted to the door.

Can anyone confirm whether or not it is riveted, as I am wary of drilling it out in case they are some sort of special fasteners I've never seen before and which may be difficult to replace and of damaging something that may be behind the panel.

I decided to just go ahead and drill them out and yes they are just rivets, big buggers but just rivets (7 or 8 mm).

Oh and if anybody else needs to do this, the panel is also riveted to the electric window lifter but I didn't drill them out, I just reached behind the panel to access the door check strap, replaced it and then riveted the panel back in place
