Too TIP or not too TIP?

Featured Replies

I'm now leaning towards the APR Remap via Awesome, while I'm there I'll be getting a DV and the CAI fitted.

I've had Jabba recommend not getting a TIP, and a couple of other posters on forums saying it's not a mod that needs doing.

So I'm a little confused should I be bothered about fitting one or sending the

IMHO....I would put it towards sports dp/cat....and if you want to do something more later then do the TIP.....it allows the turbo to spin up a bit quicker.

I personally went for TIP and noticed a big difference, but i hav't have remap done yet.

I have an APR TIP fitted to my vRS and it certainly complements the Blueflame exhaust in terms of mid range torque - it seems to have much more urgency above 4000rpm. Once I get the handling sorted my car will be remapped where hopefully the TIP will make a difference, especially in terms of turbo spool up

Hang fire for the big turbo kit due soon I say! :D

i fitted a CAI and samco TIP just before getting it remapped then about 2 months ago swapped them back to standard to try and solve a noise and it was a big difference going back to standard. but mines been remapped with them on so it might make less difference with a generic map.

For me the difference the TIP made was pretty minor although I did have the FMIC fitted at the same time so any gains from the TIP in spooling the turbo quicker may have been 'cancelled' out with the longer pipework of the FMIC.

I'd say do it if you want every last bit of performance from the engine and intend to do other things also.

That's where I'm coming from.........I have IHI fitted and had previously had map, TIP, FMIC etc sorted......nothing compares to the difference of a bigger turbo......drives so much better and I'm not talking about power.....it's all about driveability.
