Average consumption stuck and tyre pressure warning problem

Featured Replies

Ive the DSG 4x4 diesel booked for its five year service next week. Ive done just short of 18000 miles (yes only 18000 miles). For about two months the tyre pressure warning light has been coming on. The first twice took it to the Dealer. Everything checked out tyre presss as they should be. Warning light reset.

Ive noticed for the last week my average consumption read out has stuck on 41.6. Normally motorway driving it climbs to about 53.5 but nothing moving now.

I would welcome your comments please.

The tyre pressure monitoring uses the ABS system to detect a difference in wheel speed (a deflating tyre will spin faster for a given road speed). It would be worth having the wheel speed sensors checked for issues.

As for the MFD I'm not sure, maybe try a manual reset of both memories? Long press on the scroll wheel to reset, a short press switches between MFD 1 and MFD 2.

Thanks for responding chimaera.

ive just been out and checked the tyre pressures myself and discovered front offside below 2.2 foot pump remedied. Will rely on my checking in future. Tyres only been on six months (Michellin Cross Climate) If pressure drops again will call in to Kwik Fit and get it checked, possibly valve??

thanks for info re MFD. Will give it a go.

Valve or the seal between the tyre bead and the rim. I've had issues where reseating the tyre was enough to sort it.

Turns out I was losing pressure on one particular tyre. Called at Kwik Fit and at sometime I had picked up a screw on the shoulder of the tyre. Not repairable. New tyre to replace 9 month old one. Not a happy pixie. Now have more confidence in the warning system.

reset the MDF system for average consumption and its sorted the problem.
