air con, one side not getting warm.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Last night was a bit cool so i put the temp of the dual zone aircon to "Hi" on both the passenger and driver's side.

I noticed though that whilst the passenger side was blowing hot air the drivers side vents were much cooler .... mildly warm but not hot.

Any idea of what could be wrong or is it something the dealer will sort under warranty.

The car is a 2015 2.0tdi scout.

Thanks

Depends on your warranty. Only a 3 year one from Skoda.

Hi, it was an approved used i bought about 4 weeks ago with the 1 year warranty so should be covered. Its the first time ive used the aircon to heat the car as normally i have it set at at 21degrees .

The engine was warm when i tried the heating but only the passenger vents were truly hot.

Cheers

Sounds like a stuck mixer flap in the vent ducting

Not sure which version you have, those with rotary controls usually linked directly to the distribution flaps, climate control has motorised flaps, dual has twin systems.

If you have dual climate, could either be a flap or individual temperature sensor (but because one side worked can’t be temp sensor on single system)

Under the new sale legislation Dealer is liable to fix any faults present at the sale, (or its their responsibility to prove it wasn’t) so don’t let them waffle that the warranty might not cover it, they still have to fix it.

You say the engine was warm. I would make sure it is fully up to temperature and run the heater temperature from min to max and see how each side performs. Try it on sync and individual. You may have a flap sticking somewhere in  the unit.

If it's not the flap then there have been several members who have suffered with a partially blocked heater matrix that has given similar issues.

There is a known issue with the silicon bag splitting in the coolant expansion tank and the residue blocks or partially blocks and area of the heater matrix.

Unfortunately flushing is not straight forward.

Hi all,

The aystem has dual controls so passenger and driver can set separate temps on their own dial. The engine was warm and both sides get cold but the drivers side can get up to hot like passenger can ... deapite both being on high.

I did wonder   if there was a mixer flap in the system somewhere that was sticking so i have a feeling that may be the issue

Am i right in thinking  the feed for the hot and cold come from the same system until it splits somewhere to passenger and driver and then on to the individual mixer flaps for each side ?

Thanks
