I have been looking at a 2011 Octavia Vrs 2.0 tdi cr with 180,000 miles on the clock with Full service history. Is this a car I should consider or should I look for a lower mileage car. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated 

A 2011 is the facelift, and also the later common rail (CR) engine, so it will have been kinder on its DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).

 

Saying that, at 180,000 miles you are firmly in DPF end-of-life territory. Genuine DPF's (fitted) are over £1,000, aftermarket much less.

 

What is the service history like? Complete?

 

Has it been on the longlife intervals (up to 20,000 miles / 2 years) or fixed (12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever is reached first)?

 

Has it had its cambelt replaced? At over 5 years old and 140,000 miles it should have. It won't be far of needing a second one.

The Cam belt was changed 25,000 miles ago, and last serviced about 2,000 miles ago. I am only talking to the current owner at the moment and only going by what he has told me. I will hopefully be seeing the car this Friday, so I can look at the service history properly and see if there is any info regarding the dpf. Thank you for your help. I am on a limited budget and would prefer a common rail diesel to the older pd
