DMF Chattering

Featured Replies

When my car is cold there is a chattering type of noise which i am pretty sure is the flywheel, this sound goes when i press the clutch in.

The car also when cold tends to vibrate quite a bit where it would shake, stop shaking then start again... This also stops when the clutch is pressed in.

These problems disappear when the car warms up.

I have a Sachs SRE Clutch with a Sachs DMF which was needed since the car was remapped on a hybrid turbo but the clutch and flywheel was only put on the car in 2016 and iv only done just under 14K miles since then

which is why i thought it was odd that the DMF is showing signs that its starting to fail already?

I dont really know much about clutches but should i get the flywheel replaced as soon as possible or should i just leave it till it gets even worse, or will it to damage to the clutch aswell?

And also an estimate how many hours of labour i could be looking at paying for a flywheel to be changed?

Thanks.

The noisy DMF will not damage the clutch so your issue is not urgent, you probably have too much torque available from that hybrid for comfort and I suspect you've been abusing it and have dramatically shortened the life of the DMF.

Ce la vie.
