Dump Valves

Featured Replies

just a few questions

1. Who sells and fits dump valves in the greater manchester area?

2. Are the bailey and forge ones maintaince free?

3. Does the insurance company need notifying, as it is hardly affecting performance?

1. Don't know - but fitting is easy enough to be a DIY job.

2. The Forge DV needs occasional cleaning/lubrication. The Bailey one is sealed, so (I assume) it's maintenance free.

3. Depends on your insurance company. Frizzell/LV told me I didn't need to inform them about my DV change, or retrofitted Cruise Control..

1) What if you're too dumb to fit it yourself (like me?)

3) Inform your insurance company, but if they want to charge you more, kick up a fuss and tell them the car comes with a different one fitted from the factory.

1. Awesome GTi sell Hyperboost, I have one of these and after looking for reviews on the web I found them; DV's that is, to be near enough all the same. Certainly comparable with a DV007/6 or others. Awesome are 2 mins from jn21M6

2. baily and forge meant to be lubed, hyperboost is not (apprantly;there words).

3.Call them,should not charge IMHO.

4. Chance to win a forge one with well crafted words ;) Fitting is a doddle, if you wanted to buy an alternative colour, i.e. the AmD ones.

Hope that helps, makes the response a little better, but if fitted inverted (pipes in and out swapped over) they let of a little more of a chriup on release; quite addictive.

Would you reccomend the hyperboost one then colin? I see that in the discounts section briskoda members get 10% off the price, do i just need to say im a member and will that be ok?

I can now also give  to the Hyperboost DV.

Me-thinks I may be about to purchase a Hyperboost DV, hmmm plus Awesome! is only a short drive away and it's a lovely A road back into town if you wanna listen to it all the way back!

Will it sort out the little problem of my car overboosting when I have just changed gear as the turbo kicks in and it lurches me forward until it hits turbo again?

jabbasport is too far down south for me to travel.

From what you have both said im sure I could do it myself however Id rather not touch it in case anything goes wrong!

With my hands things can go wrong!

As a certified clown with mechanics I can now back up the statements by Nick, etc. Fitting a DV is no harder than getting rid of 2 clips and replacing it witht the new DV and clips. Like for like.

You'd think wouldn't you

There is only one way you can install a DV incorrectly and... yup you guessed it I managed to do it! All that happened was that the wastegate made a very pleasing chatter noise when coming off the gas, apparently though this is 'a bad thing'. In my defense though it was the GFB-Hybrid one and with a 'normal' Forge one, you can't really get it wrong

Hi All,

Had a chat with jim from Star Performance who recommended just replacing the standard DV (21GBP) with the same type on a 10K basis. He wasn't too fussed with certain brands of aftermarket DV's and basically this way works out a bit cheaper than buying an aftermarket one at circa 100GBP.

I tend to agree with this philosophy and I'm going to do this futute, just my tuppence worth though..................

Cheers

Hugh
