Superb Mk2 adding DAB and bluetooth

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I've done a fair amount of searching but can't seem to get all of the details that I think I might need. A few details about the car:

  • I have a 2010 Superb with the Bolero head unit and an aux connector in the centre console storage bin.
  • I've checked the Bolero settings and enabled Bluetooth, but I guess I don't have the under-seat unit to go with this setting? Eitherway, I don't get anything when scanning with my phone looking for connections.
  • I have steering wheel controls and optical reverse sensors.

I'd like to add:

  • DAB (preferably DAB+),
  • Bluetooth
  • and if at all possible Carplay

All whilst keeping the steering wheel controls and optical reverse sensors/climate control/dashboard integration.

Am I asking too much? What does everyone think the easiest way to do this is?

From what I've seen to get all of this, except Carplay, I would need to upgrade to a Skoda based unit (is it the RNS510) and also buy a bluetooth module to install under the seat and a DAB+ aerial. Was there anything else I missed?

Thanks

You've asked an expensive question I'm afraid.

Yes, it's possible to do as you want. You'll need a DAB Columbus (£350 or so), a GPS / DAB aerial and cables etc (£85 or so), and then you'll need the Bluetooth module, loom and microphone (£130 or so). then fiting and coding will be a few hours work and it'll all work excellently. There are cheaper ways if you trawl Ebay and pick up bargains as and when they turn up, and you might be lucky and find someone selling the whole kit as the've just removed it from their car perhaps. But expect a minimum of £400 if you're keen and lucky. And you won't get Carplay with that setup as you know.

Hmm I thought it might be!

Ignoring the factory fit options, do any of the aftermarket head units come with the A/C and parking integration? I know Kenwood (I think it is) do a Skoda specific item, but it's really expensive.

I haven't worked out how to edit my posts yet so I'm adding an additional one....

In terms of audio quality, is a Columbus DAB unit going to be any better than an aftermarket unit? Say the Kenwood for example?

Also. I have VCDS and cable. Is the coding easy?

Coding is very simple if you know your way round VCDS. As for aftermarket stuff I don't know, I don't get involved with them.

Perfect, thank you.

I've bumped into a 3rd party unit, the Xtron IN99MTVPL, which with a couple of adaptors should do the job nicely. Thought I would post here to see if anyone has had experience with it, the search function returned nothing sadly.

Have you googled reviews of xtrons?

Not until you mentioned it! I was going off the installation that @T-1000 did in a thread on here. Just tagged him to get some additional feedback.

Thanks @T-1000 that was the thread I was referring to.

2 years on, how are you finding it?

Not got the car anymore so didn't have it installed that long. I would imagine they have improved since then
