Remaps Octavia 130 TDi PD

Featured Replies

Hi I am looking for informed advice from Briskoda members about remapping.

The engine is a 2004 1.9TDi PD 130 in an L&K Octavia Est'. Its done 40000miles over the last 2 1/4 years with no probs. Although it performs well and is economical (Just over 60mpg on the m/way !!) I would like a bit more grunt.

An enquirey with Angel tuning gave remapping at

No Idea on the company I'm afraid, but technically it will invalidate your warranty.

Some dealers tend to be more rigid on this rule than others but if it means that much to you then maybe worth holding off untill the warranty period expires,

Thanks for the reply Derek.

You are the only one to have responded - so far. Guess I thought there would have been a greater responce to the question from others to owing to the large knowledge base on these forums. ?

I'd avoid Van Aken as my father just had to remove his on a focus as it is overfueling and needs to be adjusted.

Don't get me wrong, i'm sure they are ok and all, but £500 for something that needs what sounds like regular adjustment seems a bit steep.

Pick a well known tuner that is geographically close to your home. There isnt much to choose between the leading firms so stick to any of those you read about on here and you'll be very pleased with the result.

Some well used remappers are:

JBS

AMD

REVO

Jabba

Impossible Performance

And look for information on remapping the Fabia VRS which has basically the same PD130 engine.

You need to speak to TaviaRS.....give him a PM.

As for ovefuelling...isn't that what a remap on a diesel does? Hence more soot generated...unless you add something like the Cupra Intake which gives more air as well and reduces the soot output.

van Aken are well respected in diesel circles but there only so much you can do with a plug in module....which effectviely fools the ECU and over fuels....and I'm not talking about a One Click system which downloads a new map.

A remap on a diesel also tends to increase boost to allow more fuel to be injected without sooting quite so much.

That said it all comes down to getting more fuel in and more air, to get a bigger 'bang' :D

Figures seem about right to me.

Tha Van Arken stuff is pretty good and they are a reputable company.

Near to you you also have Forge in Gloucester and Badger5 (or whatever he is now). Both will do a decent remap, rather than a tuning box. I'd skip the induction kit and go for the tuning box, purely as you are worried about warranty. With the tuning box, you remove it and there is no trace of any mods having been done. Go for an OBD remap of any kind and it is detectable.

Thanks for the replys and input guys. The more i look the more there is !! So many mods and providers out there. I had this quote from Celtic Tuning and am tempted to go for it. What do you all think ?

"The Octavia TDi engine we can take from 130bhp and 228lbft torque up to

185bhp and an impressive 310lbft torque. All our maps are developed using

the dyno to ensure correct fuelling for MOT compliance and to ensure it is

within tolerance of engine and drive train components. The performance once

remapped will be impressive and under normal driving conditions you can

expect to see an improvement in fuel economy.

The remap is fully undetectable and comes with 14 day money back guarantee

which gives you more time to trial the results on the road and ensure it is

what you are after. We also carry out pre and post diagnostic work to

ensure all is fine with your car. £350 inclusive "

Many thanks again for your advice,

Tim

aka Largeshark

Tim. That seems a good price

The remap is fully undetectable

No remap via OBD port is undetectable....if it's there a dealer can find out about it........if you are worried about your warranty then you only have 2 options:

1) tuning box e.g Dragon, HOPA etc - plug 'n play

2) AmD One Click - plug and download. Use again to set back to standard.

Actually there is a 3rd option....leave as standard. ;)

Remember if you modify you will loose your warranty...partially or fully depending on dealer.

As I said, if you are worried about warranty - go for a tuning box of some description.

WHAT ABOUT REVO, it is not detectable?

REVO is detectable - if that is the question.

Why are the sp1 , sp2 switches for ? I thought they work to continue warranty.

Didn't notice this post before.

Angel Tuning .... I've had both my own Golf PD130 & wife's Fabia Estate PD100 remapped by them with very impressive results.

They get my vote for sure, great guys, good prices and they know their stuff !

i got my 130 tdi done with revo, 14 months ago. :D only took it 2 170bhp

When i mean overfueling, i mean so much that the car goes into limp home mode. It does it so regulalrly that the device has been removed

Not sure if any of this has been said, but I've been looking for a 130 pd, still looking in fact but have done some research.

Jabba say that with a clutch upgrade they can get approx 185 bhp with a MASSIVE 345lbft.

Standard clutch about 185 bhp and 300 - 310 lbft.

As to induction kits, I save your money, or just put a Green panel filter in and get the Brake upgrade. All you need, if Im correct is the, caliper spacer, 312 disc and new pads should be less than
