Citigo 2019 Fuse Box Unit

Featured Replies

I am thinking of installing an lcd voltmeter to the car dash.12v accessory plug is occupied with rear camera transformer,,so need to tap into fuse unit with a piggyback fuse.

After sticking my head into the drivers footwell, found the fuse unit - not where pictured in my handbook.

The cover is a pig to come off ,never been removed.Felt as though the unit would rip out,so have left it for a while.

Has anyone fitted a piggyback fuse lead to the fusebox, and is there room for its cover to be refitted afterwards ?  If not able to replace cover, then I will give up.

My fuse box has a hinged lid. There wasn't enough clearance to close the lid with a fuse tap in place. I cut a hole for the tap to poke through when closed. Will post a picture later if you like. Bear in mind that my car is 64 (late 2014) plate so may be different from current model

Thanks for your comments.Due to the age of the car,not going to cannibalise  anything ,and give the dealers anything to cop-out on.

Only solution is to solder a feed wire to a fuse ,and try to close the fuse box that way, without pinching a wire.

Are there no vacant fuse locations that can be used with an appropriate terminal?

Just for clarification - I have only cut the plastic lid of the fusebox: see photos for detail and part number

Just to point out all those empty slots are powered by the relevant bus bar internal to the fuse box. You unscrew the fuse box and slide the purple bar to the side. Then insert a terminal and join that to whatever you are powering (obviously don't run 12v direct to a dash cam unless it is actually a 12v camera which is rare). Nice and neat, wont effect warranty and looks entirely factory.

Mine's the Nextbase hardwire kit tapped on to rear wiper as easy fit for ignition live + I own the car outright so not bothered about cutting a cheap bit of plastic and the Citigo fuse box is in a pig of a location - just above the accelerator pedal

Thanks to all for the input. Fuse unit cover is a black non transparent affair, which is right pain to access and open. There are no doubt some free positions, so will solder a feed wire to a fuse blade, and then insert into a blank for a feed. Not had a chance to look at properly ,as a nearby earth point under the pedals  is also required. Will attempt at the weekend - if the weather lets up......

If you pull off the 'D' shaped panel on the side of the dash, you might find  some more easily accessable earth points

Fuse unit fitting looks like an afterthought for right hand drive versions-  Prince Phillip's quote came to mind.

Why fit it upside down ,and in such an inaccesible area- decided to forget the idea. The battery will soon tell me when its flat........
