Dual Fakra connectors

Featured Replies

Hi, my previous Skoda Fabia (pre facelift) had a single Fakra aerial connector that was easy to connect to the aftermarket radio, but I've removed the Swing radio from this car and it has two. I've ordered an adapter as the radio seeks through all channels and doesn't settle, but it does play known frequencies that I programmed in, like Radio 4 and BBC Sussex.

I just wondered why they went for two? The aftermarket radio doesn't do AM, and I've not looked too closely at the Swing to see if it does AM.

2 aerials, 1 FM 1 AM

There are actually 2 FM aerials as the Fabia MK II (facelift - post 2010) uses a diversity system - one antennae is on the roof and the other is the thin black line that runs down from the top of the windscreen. And yes the Swing does have AM.

You will have poor reception on an aftermarket stereo without an adaptor as the aerial amplifiers built in antennaes are supplied phantom power from the factory head unit, it is extremley unlikely that any aftermarket kit will supply phantom power from the FM socket.

Connects2 can supply you with all the bits (harnesses and adaptors) you'd need to get you going
