jabba what do they do ?

Featured Replies

I am relativley new on here and have been scouring through all the posts about Jabba and the gains from 220 - 238 bhp, but what do they actually do to get these increases ? Also is a DV advisable and if so what kind or do jabba do that all. Is there any equivalent of Jabba in Scotland or at least anyone that does the same conversions?

I just ask because i went to Graham P Chatam my local skoda dealer to test drive the Fabia vRS and the Octavia vRS on saturday and was well impressed by both cars. :drive1:

Sorry for all the questions and if they have been posted before, i just cant seem to find the answers i am after.

Many Thanks Gareth.

Jabbasport do bespoke remaps, and rechip your cars ecu to gain this performance. They deal with Bailey for DV's. Some early factory DV's are prone to failure especially after chipping (more boost)

They are located nr Peterborough.

Alternatives more local to Scotland could be REVO or APR for their serial port programs. REVO have dealers across the UK (www.revotechnik.com) and APR have Star Performance

Jabbasport get excellent results with Octy's tho

With regards to the Fabia vRS - Jabba can get another 50 to 60 BHP out of the TDI unit. I believe most of the work is simply done through ECU fiddling which can push more fuel through the injectors, etc etc. As the ECU controls all those engine management systems they can be adjusted with the right equipment that Jabba possess and can wield with expertise of course.

I'm ABSOLUTELY no expert (but I am getting my car Jabba'd tomorrow, can't wait :D) but to add to the points above, I'm guessing that a remap basically pushes the explosive potential of the fuel and air flow mixture nearer to their maximums. Because manufacturers [generally] prefer reliabilty to overall performance, some overhead is often left in the engine. Jabba and other take up this 'slack' to offer a better driving experience (tm :D).

VW group has a [good] policy of creating the same engine and regulating power and fuel efficiency by simply specifying a different ECU chip. This means that you are able to change the chip to offer better performance. They also play this game to allow them to share development costs while 'appearing' to compete. The 'old' Seat Leon Cupra R put out only 210BHP when it used EXACTLY the same engine as the MK VI based S3, which produced 225BHP (it's the chip). Now Audi has discontinued that model (for a MK V version), the lesser Seat marque has just been allowed to release a 225BHP version (again, just a change to the chip). However, VW are asking a

A lot of the extra power resulting from a Jabba remap is down to increased boost pressure.

The turbo is capable of producing well over 1 bar of boost pressure, but in the standard engine the ECU limits the boost pressure to around 0.5 bar (by controlling the wastegate on non-VVT turbos, or by trimming the vane angles on VVT turbos).

The remap increases boost quite a bit.
