I finally got round to using my tow hitch in anger today with my bike rack and light board fitted and noticed some strange odditys. All the lights work as they should including the extra indicator light on the dash The reverse sensors cut out as they should and the trailer display shows up If I switch off the rear view camera. all good so far now here is what's odd my car is a dsg and I was lead to believe that the Eco roll mode should be deactivated when the car detects the trailer is attached also the alarm doesn't go off when the light board is unpluged with the car locked. I used my obd11 to code the towbar and it's not showing any faults when scanned any ideas?

The alarm should work but, my MY18 vRS245 stills freewheels in Eco mode, with a factory fitted towbar.

 

So yeah, your alarm needs work but, the freewheeling software may have been modified by Skoda

thanks will have to have another go through the coding

Thanks for that reminder.I've never tested the alarm in that way. Usually too busy getting the bikes on.The Thule rack is key locked to the tow ball as the main security.
