The Things They Do ...

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd share this with you fine folk.

The tailgate solenoid on my wife's Fabia gave up the ghost.  I toasted one of the Torx-headed bolts by using the wrong size bit (lesson learned) and I didn't have a spare screwdriver bit to get it out with so I tagged the job onto the end of an MOT visit to our friendly local grease monkeys.  It took them over an hour (warning!  Doctor Smith!  Warning!) and rattled a bit when opened.

The attached shows what I found when I investigated ...

(1) What they decided they had to cut away to get to the bolt  🤯

(2) A piling of filings in the spare wheel well

(3) (Pretty unbelievable, this) What I found sitting in the tailgate box frame  😱  - explains the rattling

No-one will take as much care of your car as you would if you had the skills and tools, so it's worth acquiring them.

Ain't that the truth!

Jeebus!!  Get something on that soon to stop rust.  Is it a sihtbox or a good car?  I'd be questioning their MOT skills with that kind of work.
