Going from 18” wheels to 19”

Featured Replies

Hi looking for some advice. About to trade in my 2015 vrs on 18” wheels and up to 2019 vrs245 on 19s.

Will I notice a huge difference in road comfort? If I do, would switching the adaptive suspension to ‘comfort’ setting iron things out?

thanks.

its not a huge difference, a little more road noise and harshness maybe but not drasticly so. 19's are harsher if you hit a decent pothole or broken up road surface but its nothing to worry about. It certainly wouldn't put me off buying the car, thats for sure. VRS suspension is quite compliant really.

Your opinion on big wheels and extremely low profile tyres will likely depend on the type of road surfaces you spend the most time on.

I had a MkII vRS back in the day, but the roads I drive on are horrendous, and in the winter pitch black making spotting the potholes all but impossible...

No more 18" alloys for me, let alone 19".

The next car was 17" and Tonka toy tyres...

I'll leave looking cool to the kids :D

Swap the wheels over!

Just looping back to advise that the change up from 18s to 19s has been positive. Ever so slight an increase in harshness (and I'm fussy), but much sharper steering/handling. Glad I upgraded.

Was it your choice or would they not swap them over?

My choice.
