Lights auto setting

Featured Replies

Hi..

I have noticed that sometimes if say I drive into a underground car park and the lights automatically come on then I would park up and the engine is off. I open the door and it would notify me to turn lights off and shows that they auto turn off in 30mins,so I flick the lights switch from auto to off

But sometimes I do this and the lights auto turn off when exiting the car with no warning signs.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi,

Is the message really "Switch light OFF" ?

Otherwise, if S&S shuts the engine down, when parked + DSG not in 'P' position, Then, when you open the door: you have "contact is still on" + "Move DSG to 'P' Position" messages.

@jamos316

30 minutes or 30 seconds? The safe home lights will stay on up to 30 seconds ( to light the way to your door for example).

You can set this or disable the function in the infotainment centre somewhere (sorry cannot remember where right now)

the behaviour ur describing is not normal.

as @Sagalout indicated, the ComingHome can be set to a maximum of 30 secs after which the lights will turn off.

for this to happen, the lights must be set to "Auto"

in this case, u shouldn't get the message to swtich the lights off, as the Auto setting will take care of it.

if the light switch position is left at "side light" or "head light" position, and i switch off the car and open the door - it will start beeping at me until i switch the lights off, or set it back to Auto.

I don’t think mine does anything if the switch is set to “head light” position, as I often leave the switch there.  No beeping or messages.

The key point here is, are you really meaning 30 minutes, or does the message tell you 30 seconds?

The 30 minutes warning is to preserve the battery if you've deliberately left the sidelights or dipped headlights on...

If you're seeing the 30 minutes warning, with the switch in Auto would suggest something isn't right.
