Mechanics on the forum plz reply to this thread

i aint a mechanic but did own a pug 206 HDi DTurbo for 20 months. the minute the warranty went out the window is the minute stuff started going wrong...

all of it was engine, and i realise that you are not going the HDi engine but the rear beam went after 62K miles as well as eating arb drop links every 20k. did give me a sore back on long jaunts and im a short **** (5'9)

cost me £2500 in repairs in those 20 months and this year alone (sonce jan 06) i have used the AA 4 times. i got my fabia on 3 mar and have not used the AA since.

but when it did run it was a great wee car, and the wiper thing is the same on the clio and megane/307 etc is it not?

EDIT: the 206 gearbox was a bit crap - 2m throw from 2nd to 3rd. quickshift kit quickly sorted that but seemed just fine otherwise

just my tuppence worth as an owner and not one of the "go for the skoda cos this is a skoda forum"

hope this helps

Everybody mentions lots of different makes and models to look at, so I think its about time I mention the car I swapped my furby for. The New Mitsubishi Colt...plus points are Japanese quality and reliability, brilliant to drive(just look at any road test....i.e. Channel 4 top superminis), good looking and room for a party inside, I could go on!. I tried them all including the Jazz, but after I drove the Colt that was it. I loved my furby but I wouldn't want it back, maybe the new model might change my mind.

Have you thought of Fiats Grande Punto ? The reviews are very good (41/2 stars at Parkers) and seems better made than previous Fiats. 1.2 is around
