Red Light, Drivers Door, Flashing when locked

Featured Replies

Hi

This may sound like a silly question but alerted to the window as a car alarm was going off (not mine it was established) I noticed as it was dark the red light on the drivers door is flashing red every couple of seconds (2/3 seconds).  I do not recall having seen this in the 3 or so years I have had the car but I could very easily be wrong.

Reading the book the only mention of it is if it flashes on for 30 seconds to begin with then there is a problem with the central locking.  Well this 30 seconds does not happen.  You click to lock the car and it flashes along with the exterior lights to indicate locking and then goes into its routine.  Unlocking the car by remote is fine close to and from a distance, all doors and exterior openings open fine and there are no errors on the infotainment system that I can see to alert me to anything.

Any ideas, the car is a 16 (April 2016 to be exact).

Thanks

Paul

I would have thought it was obvious.

It flashes like that when the car is locked, deadlocked, and alarm active.

Its so you can look out your bedroom window to check your car......... is locked, deadlocked, and alarm active....and inform would be theives as well......

Iirc if you disarm the deadlocking and alarm (second push of lock button on key) the flashing stops, even though the car is still locked.

Mine's the same and flashes all the time.  I always check the car's locked from the window at the bottom of the stairs when I go to bed every evening.

The red flashing light in the door indicates SafeLock is on.

From the manual.....

"SafeLock prevents the doors from being opened from inside as well as window operation. This makes it more difficult for anyone to break into the vehicle."

"With the activated SafeLock, the warning light in the driver´s door flashes for 2 seconds in rapid succession, this then starts to flash at longer intervals."

U can switch off SafeLock by

By locking twice within 2 seconds.

or by deactivating the interior monitor and the towing protection.

I have my mirrors set to autofold when locking.  I just check to see that the mirrors are folded to know that it’s locked.

I sometimes get a shock when I notice that the mirrors aren’t folded, particularly if it’s first thing in the morning!  :o
