Fitting Door Sill Covers + Rear Trunk Lid

Featured Replies

Hi, in the midst of my over excitement, I bought the below Door Sill Covers and a Chrome Rear Trunk Lid for the Mk3 Octy in a stupor sometime last week, and they arrived today. These are as below on SuperSkoda:

Trouble is, reading the instructions, it says that they should be installed in 'ambient temperatures' of between 18-30°C. Also that they should not be exposed to direct sunlight during fitting, and that they should be installed by a professional.

Well, I imagine I can install these fine, and the weather is nice, but not sure how I can install the Trunk Lid without exposure to sunlight given the weather. Is it all bøllocks? Surely I can just stick em' on? I guess plenty of people here have installed the door sills anyhow? Any advice please?

I have similar and just slapped them on, precisely lined up, of course. Just make sure the surfaces are clean and grease-free and put them on early before the sun is really high. However I see that you are from Dublin. Last time we were there it was hard to imagine that it could really be that hot.

Haha. We're not quite getting the heatwave at the moment in Dublin, but it should be around 20°C the next few days anyway. I'm from the other side of the country though, and they had 26°C yesterday and 28°C today.

That's reassuring though, thanks. I guess they've stayed solid too.

Even my elementary maths tells me that 26 & 28°c is between the minima and maxima for fitting. Only worry about rain.

I do live in Dublin, and will be about 20 tomorrow. Just a little nervous about fitting these to new car, but should fine I guess.

Gave the car a nice wash and added the 'trunk lid'.

What do I have to do to enable posting more than 10mb of images? That's a sucky limit.

Have you fitted the door sill covers yet?

Not yet, next weekend possibly! Debating internally whether or not I should bother with the templates! Probably grand without...

Phew, that's good. The ones you linked are the older version I believe, there is a 2019 version also on the site that don't have the black bits that would be a proper match for your Soleil.  I've ordered a set of the 2019 ones for my missus Soleil when it gets here in a few weeks.

The 2019 version match what I saw on a style in the dealer's showroom.

Wonder if superskoda would let you swap?

Hmnh, yeah I looked at those at the time. It seems you can only get those sills for the front though.

They are a little nicer for sure, but if you wanted to add sills to the rear, you would have to go with the old version there, creating a mismatch.

Not sure I would go back to SuperSkoda right now. I'm not their favourite person and they're not mine right now.

I made two orders shortly after another and they gave me a dud shipping number for one order which went to Toulouse.

I only discovered on delivery of one of the packages that both orders were in the same box, so I paid for shipping twice, despite one package being sent.

I was in communication with them while waiting for the delivery and the guy wasn't friendly to say the least. Kept going FULL CAPS AT ME.

I've asked for them to refund me the shipping for one package and they haven't even responded to me yet. Ready to go full Mandp on them.

Ok cool, was just afraid you hadn't seen them. 👍.

That's not great about superskoda the postage was very high on the ones I ordered too, 15euro. Was going to order a rubber boot mat from them but I'm guessing the postage would be astronomical.

I'd say yer man is probably a member here! He would be smart to be anyway, like ducks in a barrel. Anyway, he is crediting my account with the postage from one of the orders, email received today. 😂

I confess I also did buy the rubber mats. Winter is coming.

I went batsh1t crazy really 😬

Sorry to drag this topic back up but I’m looking to get the same from superskoda. My question is, with the boot lip protection does it wrap around the whole of the boot lip, protecting the lip completely. I’m having to get my lip resprayed where something has caught it and flecked the paint off and I want something to protect it
