Non starting superb 2.5v6tdi question

Featured Replies

Hi.

56 plate superb 2.5 V6 diesel.

85000miles. Recently serviced.

And, Yes... I double checked the right fuel was in the car... It's the first thing I thought... She is my first diesel :)

So... Story goes like this...

She was grumpy to start in a morning for a while week or two maybe.. (I figured it had rained a lot and she might just be a bit damp....) but once started she was fine for the day.

Then one morning she was very very grumpy..(day after that big rain storm we had.)...I noticed that water had come thru above clutch pedal again .. and my mat was a little wet

. I Stopped at the shop and only just got her started... Stopped again.

.

.

 And then she died.

AA sprayed starter fluid in to air intake.  She burst into life for a second or two ... Then towed.

Found out that the scuttle below windscreen wipers drain had blocked and had filled with water that was leaking thru the firewall and into the driver foot well where the ECU is located.

On inspection... Someone previous to me had taken out the drain plugs out from under the footwell rather than fix the problem.

So at mo. I've been towed to local garage. Cleared the scuttle blockage. And sent away the Bosch ECU for diagnostics.

Mechanic said has traced the electrical signal from the fuel pump but looses it under dash somewhere.

He said the both pumps worked when he bipassed something if that helps at all

But no fuel was coming thru from main pump.

Awaiting to hear more than that tomorrow when ECU comes back from the doctors..

Has anyone have/had a similar problem.

And while I'm asking for help.

What the best place to get spare parts for her....parts seem kinda hard to come by without paying for them.

Thanks for any comments or feedback.

The ECU in the drivers footwell is for the gearbox. That’s not going to stop it starting unless it’s doing something random like telling the dash that it’s still in drive.

There is more passing under the floor than the gearbox - you can get all sorts of strange issues, and I'm sure there was a recent thread to do with fuel pump/ wet floor
