@ScoutCJB thanks mate there quite good on the prices arnt they, I only wanna tow a small box trailer about to collect wood or furniture, how come the proper wiring is so much difference dont the wiring that come with it work correctly then?

The decicated wiring interfaces with the the other systems on the car like the ABS and engine ECU so it knows you are towing and makes adjustments as required also it stops the bulb failure warning sytem from falsely reporting bulb failures when the trailer is connected

Any of the cheap multi-relay boxes in the wiring kits will do that happily, they call them "Canbus modules" but they dont connect to or talk to the canbus, they just take a tiny current from whatever bulb is lit to trigger a relay to power the corresponding trailer light, not enough to be flagged as a bulb overcurrent warning.

Thanks @J.R. thats all I needed to know i,m only on disability and I really dont want to spend another £125 for something i'm only going to use most likely once a month if that , long as the lights and indicators work I dont really care, I just want a hobby shed as I dont get out much and pick up some free wood for the winter fire cuz I cant afford to buy the stuff.

but hey theres people far worse off A :)

Mine was already fitted and I inadvertently disabled it by removing an unknown fused cable connected to the battery terminal, knwoing how unreliable the first generation things were that were to trigger a buzzer or dash warning light when the trailer indicators were working I thought the module had died but it was me, power reinstated and it works faultlessly.

All the cables were scotchloked to the ones in the loom running right beside it but it did need a 12v feed wire running to the fuseboard or in the case of the fitter that did mine, the battery.

The mention of Canbus is scary but as I said there is no connection with or to it.
