Knocking sound

Featured Replies

Hi chaps & ladies

strange question but frankly it’s doing my head in since I bought it😕

& I can’t find the source of the problem!

There is a persistent knocking in the back of the car with any undulation in the road

it sounds like it’s under the boot like something is loose but really hard to pinpoint

is this something anyone else has experienced?

Loose fuel line maybe

I would say it sounds more substantial than that but worth a look, thanks

Yes, sorry you did say knocking. Well inspection needed underneath I suppose

What model year do you have?

There are faulty shock absorbers in a batch of 2016 models.

Possibly drop links too

Does it only happen with the fuel tank approx 3/4 full?

2016 VRS has started similar. Not all the time, but occasionally when going over an undulating road surface. It appears to be behind passenger head (right hand drive UK) and when rear seats are folded down less noticeable or not there. Have checked the parcel shelf and that seats are secure on catches, but it is starting to annoy and probably annoying the missus more because of my constant moaning.

Seat belt, male, buckles hitting interior trim? As has been suggested, get someone in there to check the noise source. As a forum reader, you will know about some wildly wrong diagnoses.
