Crankshaft pulley nut size/type?

Featured Replies

Dear all

I want to turn my crankshaft by hand so I can inspect all of the cam-belt.  Using a mirror, I've managed to see the crankshaft pulley centre nut but I'm not sure if it is THE nut or a cover I have to remove first.

Can anyone tell me what size and type of socket I would need to turn the crank?

Thank you

Stewart

PS In the picture of the pulley, you'll notice a rusty bolt head.  Should I expect this on a 4 year old car?  There are also a couple of rusty bolt heads on the manifolds!

Thanks Techie

Any thoughts about the rusty bolts?

Stewart

It’s not unusual, they are right in the firing line for crap, water, snow etc.
