Can XDS be disabled?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if XDS can be disabled on a 2017 Octavia vRS TSI? I have a real problem with overheating brakes at track events and I wondered if the XDS braking system is adding to the problem.

You are able to adjust the severity of it on VCDS

5 settings to choose from; standard, weak, medium, strong and not activated

11. XDS Adaptation
Go into [03] ABS
Go into Adaptation & select “Expanded electronic differential lock”  (some cars call it something different)

I've tried it on all but NA. I've set it to medium. Seems the best of both worlds; a bit of slip when you need it but it doesn't let you go too wide. Strong gets annoyingly noticeable after the first few corners and weak proved a bit to dodgy in the wet. You do have to be careful when changing it as it may act considerably different to what you're expecting.

Turning your traction control into ESC sport does aid in for allowing a little more slip, but it turns your front assist off.

*EDIT* Just curious, so I had a google myself. Turning the traction off or onto sport does exactly that; turns the traction control off or puts it in sport. It doesn't touch the XDS.
