Motor Cover Insulating Foam

Featured Replies

Hello all

First topic I start. Have tried searching for a similar topic in the forum but I have not come across any, if there´s already a thread, please link and excuse me :)

I have started tinkering with the recently purchased Scout. It turns out that the insulating foam between the engine and the plastic cover is disintegrating. I am trying to avoid going  via the official Skoda but I do not seem to have any luck so far.

Has anybody experienced this? I have found DIY solutions but no long term results (did those foams  or glues catch on fire?!).

Thanks for any input!

I also have the same issue on my 05 1.9 Octy. Read somewhere on the web someone used some stick on high temp reflective stuff on the engine cover. But years later links are dead. I am folllwing this with interest

Breakers/Salvage yard?

They appear to be going for £70+ on ebay so it may be worth giving your local Škoda dealer a punt, or even the Škoda Shop;

I purchased a used cover whole with foam from a breakers. Think because my car done 230k. It did not last long and disintegrated very quickly as the engine shakes more perhaps, components worn like mounts?
