2007 Octavia II - reset service indicator method?

Featured Replies

Good afternoon

It's been a year since I last (successfully!) did the above, but today, having changed the oil & filter (with the other small jobs to follow next week), I couldn't remember how exactly to do it, and my Haynes Golf MkV manual gives incorrect instructions because it refers to there being separate mileage trip and clock buttons on the speedo display console, whereas my Octy (2007 2l TDI in SE trim, so cruise control, climate control, etc.) has only one button for both functions.

Therefore, as I am sure that this must have been covered many times before (although I searched but could not find the info), please could someone point me to some of the relevant posts?

Thanks in advance

 ;)

By coincidence mine came on tonight for the first time and it was in Franglais, message in French but quoting miles till service due, it went out so fast I cant be sure but I think it said 600 miles or 232 days, seems a strange combination?

Cant recall if ii set it for fixed or variable, I think I changed it to variable and then back again, I have done a bit less than 10K miles and 9 or 10 months since the service so does 10K miles and/or 16 months sound right for fixed servicing?

Cant really recall if I did the oil change straight way or after a month or two.

The button on the dash will only ever change it to fixed service - even if set to variable at the workshop.

Fixed service is 10k miles (or 15k km) /12 months - whichever is first.

You can access the message by:

-Switch on the ignition but don't start the engine

-Push the trip reset and hold - the trip initially resets to zero but comes back when you hold it in

-After a few seconds the display will show miles to service then after a pause, days to service (or vice versa)
