Honest John questioning the site's advice

I suppose he did at least say to head over here for a look:

Not the remote-test

Higher-end Skodas have 'KESSY' keys (Keyless Lock & Start), which work by proximity to the car. I'd heard that to prevent relay boosting of the signal in order to steal the car, the proximity function can be switched off so the key does not emit a signal. If this isn't the case, then buy a Faraday bag on Amazon to keep the key in: Amazon part# B076KZF645 (2 pouches for £8.99). Or keep the keys in a disconnected microwave oven. You'll get a lot more about this (some of it very confused) in the Briskoda forum.

We have a faraday bag for the keys when inside the house. It works as it should. Can stand at the car door with it in the bag and the doors wont unlock.

+1 for the faraday bag/pouch...    I have 2, I use 1 the main set of keys and the 2nd for the spare set (including all the other spare car keys)

Cheap as chips and effective

Dont have kessy, but if i did, id faraday bag.

The thing about microwaves is...

They are actually sized to be "tuned" to the emitted frequency of the magnetron of that microwave such that all beams get reflected back to the centre to the food, thus why a spoon in there causes mayhem, bouncing electrons all over the place. So no guarantee it will shield in the frequency range of kessy..

There was a bs thing a few years back about "put your cell phone in the microwave and call it. If it rings your microwave is leaking radiation". No, it just means your phone doesnt operate at the food cooking frequency...
