2016 Octavia diesel; not running very well!

Recommended Posts

Hi all

New owner of 2016 1.6 diesel Octavia, 50k miles. I've started to notice a little issue, that is slightly irritating, but hopefully won't manifest into a bigger problem. When in gear, 5th for example, when I take my foot off the accelerator, and then press again, there is a noticeable jerk.

It's detracting from the driving experience, if nothing else. I can't say that there's any other noticeable issues, but then again I don't really know how it should be driving.

If it appears I'm being pedantic, please tell me. As of now, the missus has a 2013 megane that's a lot more entertaining drive.

Cheers

If you're able to, I'd give it a bloody good ragging. You obviously don't need to have it bouncing off the rev limiter, but certainly stretch it's legs.

A lot of people consider your premium fuels to be like snake oil, but throwing a tank off the good stuff every so often is worth it. Even throwing a bottle of redex does the trick. Just something to give the fuel lines, the pump and injectors a bit of a flushing.

Even though I use shell v power diesel, I use redex every few tanks of fuel (usually after 1500 miles). Main thing I do, however, is when it's on fumes I go for a quick blast on the country lanes and give the car a work through the gears. Nothing like an Italian tune up.

How do you get it into the tank?  My 2014 has some form of security flap which prevents you just pouring some redex into the tank.

I use a funnel and pour it in that way. If you try to stick the end of the bottle in, you end up pouring more than you want in
