DAB aerial

Featured Replies

Hi

ive just bought second hand Fabia. My DAB radio has no signal. Do I need a different aerial and if so which one Please.

Thanks. .

You need a signal booster as aftermarket head units don't have it.

Signal booster helped a lot for my aftermarket radio when I replaced OE long antenna with short shark fin (took some VW id No., as far as remember). Reason of replacement- better look & OE long antenna wasn’t dismountable (only screw out a bit, tilt, screw in- and hear how it bangs against rear door’s spoiler in carwash). Of course, with OE long antenna (even w/o booster) reception was better.

If the aerial that came with the car is just an FM one, you might need another that supports DAB. You can buy amplified splitters which attempt to provide a DAB and FM aerial output from a single FM aerial, though I never tried one after reading negative reviews about them.

If you need a DAB aerial this one is near enough a straight swap https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LFHUWLY The main difference is that the wires are connected directly to the aerial base and need to be run up to the dashboard. (The original aerial base has connector/s near it in a foam cover).
