The wife decided to see if the rear light was stronger than a gate post . . . . I can confirm, gate posts are much tougher ☹️

 

Can someone advise me if all rear lights on a 2010 Estate are the same please? I'm searching on ebay and some, although looking the same, are stating excluding Vrs model?

 

Also does anyone know where I can get a lower reflector apart from Beijing, China that doesn't cost the earth please.

The parts diagram for a 2010 1Z Octavia is here.  There are two versions of the tail light listed, one for the saloon and one for the estate.

 

There are also two other parts diagrams for the date in question but referencing different trim levels.  You would need to refer to the options list on the sticker in your service book to find the appropriate "PR" code and thus which model you have.  The other two diagrams for the stardard vehicle are  PR GP3 and PR GP0.  The VRS models are here, here and here.

 

The tail light part numbers do seem to vary over the models so check carefully.

 

Skoda builds cars in China as well as other places so the availability of parts from that region is on a par with that from other regions.  I'd recommend a root around aliexpress.com once you have the relevant part nummbers to hand.  Prices are usually pretty good, quality is generally high (most were made to supply to Skoda) and delivery can be as quick as a week or so.
