Flood water !

Featured Replies

Driving through Cheshire yesterday I encountered some flood waters, passable with care but deep enough to cause concern. I went through a few of 'em, driving slowly but steadily. An orange warning light with an icon I couldn't recognise at first flashed up a little while later, but as things seemed to be working OK & it was orange as opposed to a red warning, I continued on my journey. About 15 miles later the lights extinguished which confirmed my hoped-for assumption, that water / damp had got into the electrics to cause the problem, but had subsequently dried out with the heat of the engine. At the end of the 65 mile journey I checked the handbook - the warning icon was the "Front Assist" symbol, so obviously had been affected temporarily. Thankfully all is good again, with no more worries on the return trip later at night. JKW

During some heavy rain it informed me that it was disabled. I had not thought about flood water, but something to be aware of... Hope you have no issues with it...

Pretty sure it’s because it’s radar rather than sonar.

Would it not just be the front assist warning system seeing the water as a potential obstacle to hit? Unless the sensor is very clever I doubt whether it would differentiate between water and a solid obstruction.

My front assist always has a dickie fit in heavy rain.

Not to mention 2 flakes of snow landing on the car!  It works great but is quite delicate...
