Hi.

New here,  but been lurking and gathering as much info on the Karoq before buying. A wealth of information from you all that has helped immensely.

It`s been a very frustrating process with dealers, after deciding on the configuration of the car, I keep being told  that I have to order and wait 4 months for delivery, which I don`t want to do.

Anyway; spoke to Skoda Uk today and there are 14 standard configuration Karoqs  available, either  coming off the production line or are at the UK docks; now!

I won`t get the couple of extras I want, but life`s too short and the order time is too long, to be too picky.

Cheers, John

Exactly the same way as I bought my Superb a couple of months ago. It still seemed to take forever though !

Had a reasonable choice and in the end got a car with a factory tow bar fitted (which was something I wanted but actually currently have no use for; Swmbo didn’t understand- maybe it’s a bloke thing!), and in a colour that wasn’t my first choice, but all for less than the maximum budget I had so was very happy

hope the wait isn’t too intolerable for you

A warm welcome to the Forum John !  As a former glider pilot I always try to get a tow bar for recovering aircraft when landing out.  Still comes in handy for my little trailer to take stuff to the dump.

Thanks for the welcome.

Well it has been a steep learning curve about how dealerships work. Not outright lying but extremely misleading information. Yes we have that car in stock!, then when I make in depth enquiries and mention Motability, it`s then ; oh! there`s been a mistake in the listing detail, you`ll have to order it and wait 4 months. I went on CarWow , just to find out what was available countrywide. Dealers said they have the car in stock to get your interest and then push the financing side of it.

I`m very disillusioned now and I think I`ll just forget it.

@jonca  Welcome to the forum.

?

Did Skoda UK Customer Services say that any of cars on their way to Dealerships can be available to you if you fill in your Motability Order Form

and get the Approval from Motability?

What Karoq are you after, engine / gearbox?

?

When you go or call s Dealership are you not asking to speak with the Motability Specialist rather than just any salesperson?

Plenty salespeople have little interest in Motability, that is not how their employers might want it to be.

The cars on the Motability list have to come to the spec on the list, then you can pay for extras.

Yes! I always speak to the Motability specialist. The last one I spoke to contacted the sales manager and the car disappeared.

Car spec is: Karoq 1.5 tsi sel dsg. I would have liked the options: Heated windscreen and active cruise control and spare wheel, but in the end I would have gone for one without and not too bothered about colour.

Skoda UK didn`t mention about signing up for Motability first.  Motability have said that I`m ok with them for approval, and to just pick a car.

This is a first for me on Motability , so I thought I`d find the car and then do the details with Motability. No specialist has said I have to do things any other way.

Motability dead quick on sending through the paperwork and doing approval and you know you can order,

so can the Dealership bags one of the model you want that is on the way or Built?

The salesperson i deal with never has any issues that way.

I have received notice from Mobility that i can order my new car now but not due for change over until November,

but i am not doing that this time as no longer going to have a car from Motability, but my very helpful salesperson would bags me one if i wanted to.

Too many people i know have lost PIP when having to go over from DLA, or when PIP reviewed after a year and had to hand back cars and appeal.

All the best with it.

Ok! I`ll follow your advice and get the Motability paperwork sorted.

Why aren`t you going for a Motability car this time.

I was refused PIP (from DLA) , took them to court and won. I have a progressive condition; I might last 3 to 5 years.

I have had Motability cars on and off since 1977 and at various times had no benefit award and could not get a car until winning appeals, then life awards and periodic reviews and lost it. In the old days 12,000 miles a year was not enough and automatics were scarce.

(Bought and sold Ex Mobility cars as well, and used Motability HP to buy new and used when they used to have that facility.)

As it is the scheme is all messed up IMO and i can not be bothered with nice cars that others damage in parking places and then need repaired.

There are some good Autos on the 'This Quarters Highlights'.

As it is i would not have a current 1.5TSI EVO DSG, but saying that i have driven a few last year and this that behaved well, but i know of enough that have not.

I am surprised that any Skoda Dealership is not happy to be getting you one ASAP.

SEAT might be more helpful.

Yes I've read just about everything regarding that topic. I have test driven 5 different cars with my specification, both cold and warm start up, and have not come across the problem.
